NYSDEC Region 1 Freshwater Fisheries Unit and I FISH NY Program is very excited to announce our very first Women’s Fishing Event/Expo specifically geared towards women and families.  To be held on Saturday, September 28^th at Belmont Lake State Park from 10am – 2pm. See attached flyer for more information.

If you are interested in participating in the event, or advertising a business, club, or organization, call 631-444-0283 or email fwfish1@dec.ny.gov with the subject title “Women’s Fishing Seminar.”

We need volunteers to teach skills like fly fishing, knot tying, fish cleaning and filleting etc. See the attached flyer and please spread the word! This will hopefully be a huge success and an annual event.

WE ESPECIALLY NEED WOMEN to help with the event. We want women to teach women and break through the male- dominated sport. You can advertise your business, share a special skill like fly tying or casting, or anything fishing related.  Please let us know if you can assist or have any ideas we can add to the event.
